Logan + Morgan Wedding | Rolling Rails Lodge, State College, PA
When I met Logan, I would never have guessed that seven years later I would be photographing her wedding to the "Oh my God! SO HOT!!" boy from her Spanish class. It makes me smile when I think about the hilarious, passionate, self-proclaimed "awkward" junior at Penn State and the woman she has become. From moving to across the country as Morgan pursued his military career (GO ARMY!) to completing her masters degree during a pandemic, to planning one of the most elaborate Penn State weddings I've ever seen, I'm so proud to call this woman a friend.
Their love story started in Spanish and while I don't know how much Spanish they remember, I do know they had perfect attendance! One thing I've loved learning about Morgan is that he is the romantic! If someone or something is important to Logan, Morgan makes it a priority. The way he reads his bride and stands by her ready to be there for whatever type of support she needs is something that you see in couples who have been together for 50 years.
When Morgan proposed in 2019, he brought it back to Happy Valley where their story began. As Logan turned the corner at the tailgate fields, she saw Morgan on one knee surrounded by friends and family!
My favorite part of their proposal was Logan's response. Surprised and teary she said "yeah!" then she said "Are you sure?"
Before I write a novel about this wonderful couple, I'll jump into their wedding day! When Logan, her mother, Jodi, and I met up for the first time I knew this would be a wedding no one would soon forget! The first half of their day began at Downtown State College's The Graduate Hotel.
Peep the wrestling cookies! Wrestling at Penn State is a family tradition in both the Mayo and McIntosh families! Morgan and Logan's father, Dan, wrestled for Penn State and Logan interned for the team! These cookies were made by a past bride of our's! Check out Sugared By Liv's amazing work!
When I say this wedding was detail inspiration, I meant it! From personalized jackets, to drink stirrers, mints, to match boxes, and napkins, Logan had everything planned! Future couples, take out a notepad and pen! Start taking notes! We could write a blog about these details! Between Logan and her mother, Jodi, they could be wedding planners!
Jodi had the idea to bring Logan's dresses from her sacraments to photograph them all together! I can't get over her sweet little baptism dress!
After hair and makeup were done, we got down to their video interviews and photos!
With a bridal squad this big, we loved taking advantage of the lobby's library and all of its Penn State decor!
Logan only had a few people there while she got ready! It made such a special moment with her mother, maid of honor, and in-laws!
Logan, you have two wonderful women to look up to in Jodi and Rebecca! Thanks for sharing them with us for the day!
When your MOH is also a makeup artist (Jersey brides check her out!). Hayley was in there like swimwear for every moment of this day. Any stressors, problems, small details, etc. Hayley had it taken care of. In our five years of shooting weddings, I would say she was definitely one of, if not the best maid of honor we have seen. She and Logan's entire bridal party showed up for Logan throughout the day. We cannot say enough about them.
Logan has two brothers, and she was made to marry a man with wonderful sisters!
While Logan got into her dress, we spent some time with Morgan and his brother in the lobby!
What a handsome fella!
We love to talk about women's details but I LOVE these groomsmen gifts Morgan had customized for all of his crew while stationed abroad!
Right before Logan and Morgan's first look, Logan had a first look with her father, Dan. Seeing Dan patiently pace the hallways waiting to see his daughter was such sweet anticipation! His pride and happiness were so apparent when he finally got to see the bride for the first time!
After the father-daughter First Look, we headed outside for Logan and Morgan's First Look! First Looks are so exciting because you don't know what you're going to get! Tears, smiles, cheers! Every reaction is truly a reflection of the groom and the way Morgan hyped Logan up when he saw her for the first time was perfect!!
Even though we were along busy Atherton Street, the red bricks from The Graduate made this a beautiful First Look spot!
During Morgan and Logan's Intimate first look, Logan gifted Morgan a small pendant to wear with his boutonniere. The frame held a photo of Morgan's late brother, Michael. Logan knew it was important for Morgan to have his brother with him throughout their big day. During his toast, Morgan's oldest brother Brendan shared that although Michael left this world early, he was proud of his younger brother, and his spirit was with these two on their wedding day.
After the First Look, we loaded up the bus and headed to the Nittany Lion Shrine!
You can't tell from most of the photos because these two looked so stunning, but this was a late November wedding! We had some sunshine, but it definitely felt like a winter wedding in Pennsylvania! Thankfully their big wedding party surrounded them with warm love!
The Rolling Rails patio featured a cozy seating area with space heaters, blankets, a mobile bar, a tea and coffee bar, a dessert table, a donut wall, and a telephone for guests to leave Logan and Morgan voice messages! Later in the night, the patio was filled with late-night snacks and a place for guests to enjoy their hand-rolled cigars!
After portraits were done, we headed into the lodge. We had never seen Rolling Rails look more beautiful than how it looked for Morgan and Logan's wedding. Logan and her mother, Jodi, worked closely with their planner, Gela Taylor, and florist, Emily Rickard to create this beautiful vision!
As the sun set, candlelight filled the lodge for their ceremony and reception.
Ceremony time! Look at how stunning!
Logan and Morgan were actually married for about 2 years before this celebration. But since between moving across the country, deployment, and COVID delays, this vow renewal was their opportunity to finally celebrate with their loved ones. Fun fact, this celebration was their first-ever opportunity to slow dance together!
Their dinner was a beautiful assortment of their favorite foods. There was an Asian stir-fry station, a taco bar, and an Italian pasta bar. This was all before their late-night bites, and in addition to the ice cream truck and donut wall that they had outside of the lodge!
For Logan and Morgan's first dance, they asked Morgan's college teammate and friend, Luke to do a live rendition of Vance Joy's Riptide. You can check it out in Spotify! The photo below was later animated, and used for Luke's album cover art! I have been listening to Luke's music ever since hearing him sing at the wedding! Such talent!
After dinner and dances, toasts were given by Logan's cousin Hayley and Morgan's brother, Brendan.
Nittany Entertainment's Eric, kept the dance floor packed!
There are so many things I could say about the beauty and joy of this wedding day, but I will let the photos and the video below speak for that. Logan and Morgan have a love based on mutual trust, respect, and deep admiration. They are each other's best friends and biggest support system. With each life hurdle, they lean on one another and continue to grow as a couple. We are so thankful to have had the opportunity to capture their love, and celebrate with their wonderful families on this special day.
Thank you to all of the vendors that we got to work alongside. We are so thankful to have worked amongst such a talented team! You all put on an amazing event!
